MacroGard – Immunomodulator for Animals
MacroGard® is a highly purified and exposed β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans with high biological activity preserved. From a unique and special yeast, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, through extraction of a small and selected portion of its structure the purest form of β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans is obtained. The greatest challenge in the extraction of β-Glucans is the careful preservation of their molecular structure which is essential for maintaining their bioactivity.

When ingested by animal, β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans are not affected by the enzymes and pH in the mouth and stomach, arriving intact in intestines. In the intestine, β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans bind to specific receptors on the surface of macrophages which then phagocyte β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans and become more active and better prepared to internalize digests and destroy pathogens. Macrophage breakdown β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans molecules into smaller bioactive particles and produce large amounts of cytokines. β-1,3/1,6 -Glucans and cytokines activate and enhance the defense cells of the body as a whole. Lysozymes, another antimicrobial peptides are also intensively produced enhancing the natural body defense potential. They release the cytokines activate lymphocytes which produce antibodies.
